Virginia Lottery Becomes First U.S. iLottery to Launch Virtual Sports Games

The Virginia Lottery has made history as the first regulated iLottery platform in the United States to offer virtual sports games, with the launch of VSports—a new digital product designed to replicate the excitement of live sporting events.

Delivered in partnership with Aristocrat Interactive, NeoPollard Interactive (NPI), and Inspired Entertainment, the new offering blends the familiarity of traditional lottery draw formats with high-frequency, fast-paced sports simulations. Titles within the VSports range include virtual versions of football, basketball, and horse racing, with outcomes determined by a certified random number generator.

The games operate on a frequent draw basis—running every two to three minutes—and are designed to immerse players in a lifelike sporting experience, without relying on real-world fixtures or results.

Developed by Inspired Entertainment, the games were integrated via Aristocrat Interactive’s Fusion aggregation platform. Delivery was made possible through NeoPollard Interactive, a joint venture between Aristocrat and Pollard Banknote, leveraging its existing technology relationship with the Virginia Lottery.

Chris Shaban, Managing Director of Aristocrat Interactive iLottery, said:

“The introduction of these first-of-its-kind draw games for the Virginia Lottery exemplifies how customers can benefit from strategic integrations that drive new innovations.”

Scott Kenyon, Deputy Executive Director of Marketing at the Virginia Lottery, added:

“This relationship allows us to provide a wide range of new, distinctive games that we are confident will be exciting and appealing to our players, while also supporting the Lottery’s overall mission of raising revenue for K-12 public education in the Commonwealth.”

The launch underscores Virginia’s continued leadership in digital lottery innovation and highlights the growing demand for engaging, alternative forms of entertainment within the iLottery space.
