Sports betting revenue in Virginia, US, increased by 2.8 per cent year-on-year in April, reaching US$56.1m, according to the latest figures from the Virginia Lottery. This marks a rise from $54.6m reported in April 2024.
Total sports betting handle in the state also grew by 2.8 per cent, climbing from $563.5m to $609.7m.
The majority of wagers — $603.7m — were placed through mobile operators, while retail sports betting contributed $6m to the overall handle.
Bettors in Virginia secured $546.9m in winnings, with sportsbooks recording a combined hold of 10.3 per cent.
Sports betting in Virginia generated $8.5m in tax revenue during April, an increase of 3.7 per cent compared to the $8.2m collected in the same month last year.
